03 May Special Olympics North Carolina Plane Pull 2013
For the second year in a row, five Ignite Social Media employees took to the tarmac at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. With our sights on a 30,000 pound plane, we mentally and physically prepared to pick up the rope and pull 35 times our collective body weight all for a good cause.
Special Olympics of North Carolina has been hosting an annual plane pull for the past fourteen years in efforts to raise money to provide sports training and competition to intellectually disabled adults and children.
This year a record 103 teams came together and raised $139,000. Each team had to pull the plane 25 feet and competed to see who could pull it the fastest. The Ignite Social Media team, also known as Scotty’s Angels, was able to pull the plane in 12.25 seconds. While impressive, the winning team, which was made up of law enforcement, was able to pull it in a brisk 9.27 seconds.
All in all, our team had a great time and were thrilled to represent Ignite Social Media in such a fun way. Head to the Special Olympics North Carolina website to learn more about this great cause.
