DC Metro Launches Aggressive Social Media Effort

The Washington DC Metro is making a large push to show customers that it is a transparent, responsive system and it’s doing so using social media. The Transit Authority recently hired a Twitter-savvy chief spokesman and a full-time social media manager. The staff is constantly fighting complaints about poor service so hopefully these new changes will help.

Facebook Performs Poorly in Customer Satisfaction

According to a study by ForeSee Results Inc. and the University of Michigan, Facebook ranked 66 out of a possible 100 in the area of customer satisfaction. Two notable exceptions from the study are Google+ and Twitter. Google’s new foray into social media may have been too new to get accurate data; however, the absence of Twitter is a little odd. Other networks receiving scores were Wikipedia (78), YouTube (74), and “All Others” (67).

ESPN Launches New Social Game

ESPN just launched a new social game for Facebook where players manage their own sports bar and grill and it’s called, you guessed it, ESPN Sports Bar & Grill. Users are tasked with keeping their customers happy, playing live and pay-per-view events, and outfitting their bar with snazzy items such as Samsung TVs. What makes this game particularly interesting is that you can get real-time score updates and news and interact with all of your friends on Facebook. A Not-So Anonymous Social Network

In a response to being kicked off of Google+, the hacker collective Anonymous has decided launch it’s own social network, AnonPlus. According to the website, it is for all people, not just the Anonymous hackers. It caters towards “those out there who simply want a better Internet.”
