31 Oct Facebook Expands Live Features | Social You Should Know
Live streaming features continue to expand across Facebook and Instagram, while Pinterest reveals a new way for businesses to create content, all in this week’s Social You Should Know.
Facebook Live adds Features for Verified Pages
Facebook recently added new features for Facebook Live that are sure to help increase usage and attendance. These features allow broadcasters to schedule and promote their Live streams ahead of time, specifically within a week in advance of the event. Once a broadcast has been scheduled, you can promote it and share the link to embed it in other places (website/blog, etc.). Additionally, interested fans can now join a pre-broadcast lobby up to 3 minutes ahead of the Live video.
Instagram Rumored to be Testing Live Streaming
Along with Facebook’s updates, it appears Instagram might also be getting in on live streaming.Reports have seen the Live feature within Instagram stories. A ‘LIVE’ banner appears overlaid on the Stories feed. The user experience shows a red button saying ‘Go Insta’ to go live. No comment has been made from Instagram yet, but many people are curiously waiting for the announcement to come.
Pinterest Launches ‘Pin Collective’
Pinterest has now developed a new way for businesses to create content with the launch of the Pin Collective, connecting brands with content creators across the platform. These creators are independent people, production shops, and publishers that are hand-picked and work directly with the brands for execution. The initial Pin Collective pilot with Albertsons Companies proved to be a success that many are hoping to mimic in the coming months, especially with the holiday season upon us.
Finally, more bad news for Larry the Bird. Rumors are swirling that Twitter could be laying off around 8% of their staff (around 300 people).
